Sophie
Sophie was our first homebred golden retriever from our first litter. She was the only bitch in the litter. She had a lovely, gentle temperament, just like her dad. She was not shown much because of lack of coat. She loved her food. She would have eat, even if she was unwell. Sophie never came into season, therefore we never had any pups from her. On the day she died we took her into the vet for tests because she had been drinking a lot of water. From the blood test results, the vet thought that they were dealing with a closed pyometra. So they opened her up to do a spay. When they opened her up, they discovered that all her internal organs were twisting round each other. We gave permission for them to put her to sleep on the operating table on 23rd May 2001. She was six and a half years old.
